A New Way for Identifying the Citizens was Presented in India

IANS is currently processing the issue for an Aadhaar number for the Indian citizen which will be a great method to identify the people and give them free access to all public and private services around the country.

The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) helps for the development of the process by registering every Indians and interested residents. In India about two hundred registrars (government departments and public sector organisations), such as Comat, Virgo Softech and Wipro, are busy with the task of collecting data for the Indian citizens. The director of Virgo Softech has promised that the universal identification will be presented as soon as possible. Biometric and fingerprint information will be featured in this unique project. Even children up to five years old will be linked to their parents numbers. And as the child turns 15th her or his information data will be updated.

Of course there is a concern over the security of these unique identification numbers so the authorities give their word that this problem will be solved so that the numbers can be used by terrorists. Since 2010, when the Aadhaar number was issued about 600 million people will be identified over the next four years. Now there are about 150 000 enrolments which are done every day.
