Car Industry in India

Indian project for cheap car
India is one of the biggest and the second most populated country in the world. It is one of the 4th fastest developing economies in the world. As a result all industries in India are progressing very fast. The car industry is not an exception. The country is manufacturing eleven million vehicles every year. 1.5 million of them are for export. The market is permanently expanding and it is focused not only in luxury and middle class cars but also in developing low price range cars. A project for car that costs under $3000 was presented in 2008. The reason is that they want to start to sell on new market which was not considered interesting and profitable till this moment. Owning a car was a luxury for most of the people in India and with this big step, many people can afford something they couldn't before. The biggest car manufacturers in the world have their own agents in the country. In the 2009 India surpassed China as Asia's fourth largest exporter of passenger cars. According to some business organizations, the annual car sales in the country are planned to increase to 5 million until 2015 and more than 9 million till 2020. Approximately 611 million is expected to be the number of the cars till 2050 on the national roads of India.

Traffic Mumbai
The main part of this industry is located in Chenai which is also called "Detroit of India”. Companies like Nissan, Ford, BMW have headquarters in this city. Here are manufactured more than 60 per cent of India's cars for export. For example in the 2008 Hiundai Motors only manufactured and exported 240,000 cars made in India. General Motors is planning to produce and export 50,000 cars in 2011. The main reason for this expansion is India's strong engineering base and low costs in the manufacturing.

In a conclusion we can say that India is and will become more and more interesting for car manufacturers from all around the world and as a consequence of that we will soon be able to buy cheap and well-designed cars from India.
