India's Independence Day

Before 18th century India's relations were on a trade-related base. However, when East India Company defeated Siraj-ud-Daulah, the British ruling became a fact. The Company and the Governor General ruled the peninsula. After the General, the Crown went to the Viceroy of administration and served as a representation of the Company's might and power.

Then in the 20th century Indians live witnesses of many leaders such as Gopal, Nehru and Sardar who rise to protect and free the innocent people from the rude British Empire. Banded was a follower of Ghandi's non-violence movement, and acted under his leadership, he was full of vigour and fought in the name of India's freedom. Events like “Quit India Movement” and Gandhi's Dandi March brought India closer to its freedom. The new Indian flag was hoisted after two hundred years of British ruling. Since that day cultural and flag-hoisting ceremonies in India are prevailing for the country's independence day. Now the struggle for Indian freedom find its place in the history books, memorials and tombstones of the heroes who gave their life for the Indian nation. Even the politics changed from idealism to pragmatic cynicism.

Now on 15th of August each year after 1947, the people of India join together to remember the heroes who gave them freedom. On the Independence Day in all colleges around the country, there is no academic work, but all staff and students must be in their educational institution to celebrate the day. Different programs are performed to make the holiday special so that everyone can enjoy it. Also The Independence Day is a mark for the day when the states merged into one nation called India. That was country's biggest and most celebrated diplomatic success in its history.
