Sari – this is a piece of unstitched cloth, which the women in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc, wear. It is draped over the woman's body in different ways and various styles. Most commonly one end of the dress is draped around the shoulder of the woman while the rest of the dress is around her waist. The Sari should be worn with blouse named choli.
Origins
The name sari comes from Sanskrit and it means strip of cloth. The history of the dress is ancient. It is dated around 2800 – 1800 BC. Many poets and historians mentioned it in their articles through the years. According some of them the dress should be worn only in very special occasions while others say that it can be worn even as a daily dress.
Today, this sort of dresses is worn by the film stars and by the rich people. Maybe the reason for this is not only its price, but also that the dress is not very practical.

This is the male dress, which I personally find very beautiful. Its origins come from the Indian courts and royal families. This sort of dress was priority of the richest back in the days. Today, Sharwani are worn mainly by grooms.
