Indian Police

This service is a successor of the police service in British India also known as Imperial police. The today's structure was established in 1948 or just a year after India become independent.

The police is part of the All India Services which includes also the India Administrative services and the India Forest services.

The objectives of the police were determine in the first police commission in 1865. Of course the rights of the Indian police are not very different from the rights and the obligations of the police services in the other countries so I think not to talk about them but to tell you about the history and the development of the services.

History
We can't point an exact date when the police came into being but around the beginning of the 20th century the first exams for becoming a part of the IP were performed. After that the police service has developed immensely and today it has hundreds of thousands employees.

All the officers have to train very hard to become members of the team. They have to go through three stages of selection.

Today the Government of India is preparing a special plan according which the IPC have to become more modern and more effective. The government is ready to spent some money to accomplish that goal and you can be sure that sooner or later it will become a reality.
