The Birth of Krishna

As an ancient nation Indians have many interesting stories and legends. Usually these legends helped people to explain certain things. For example the creation of god.
Sri Krishna
The legend about lord Krishna is very interesting. It says that in ancient times there was a ruler named Ugrasena. He was a king. This king had two children – a boy and a girl. The princess was named Davaki and the prince Kamsa. Unlike his father Kamsa was ruthless and cruel.
When Davaki was to wed, her brother decided to be the charioteer of the groom and bride. While Kamsa drove the chariot out of the wedding hall a voice from the sky told him that the seventh child of the new family will kill him. After this words Kamsa decided to kill his sister. Vasudeva, the groom, begged him for mercy. In return he promised to kill any child born to them. Now Davaki, who doesn't want his sister's blood on his hands, decided to place them under home arrest. Six of the children of Davaki and Vasudeva were killed. The seventh was born at night. At this time the guards in front of the house were asleep and Davaki and Vasudeva decided to try to save the seventh child. They easily slid between the guards and went to the nearest town where the child was given to Vasudeva's second wife. After that Vasudeva and Davaki were thrown in to a dungeon. There they gave birth to their eight child (Krishna). At the night of the birth it was raining heavily. While Vasudeva was holding his baby a lightning struck and the chains fell from his hands. He managed to escape and to replace his baby with another. When he came back, Kamsa came to him and grab the baby from his hands. He placed it over his head and was about to throw it on the ground. In this moment the baby disappeared.
