The deadliest snakes in India are:
Saw scaled Viper - Mostly active after night these snakes are easily recognisable because of their very specific behaviour. When the snake is angry and ready to attack it rubs parts of it's body one on another and produces sizzling sounds. The Venom of the snake strikes at the moment of the bite. It can cause coagulopathy and defibrination. Some of the symptoms of the bite can occurs in days after the actual bite. These snakes are not big and the males are never bigger than 90 cm in length.
Russel's viper or Daboia – This is one of the species that causes most of the bites and deaths in the world. The snake's maximum length is a bit more than 160 cm. But a single drop of it's poison can kill more than one man. Death can occur at the day of the bite or more than 14 days after it.
Common Krait – This snake's behaviour is very different throughout the days and nights. During the day the snake rolls it's body like a ball but at night it is very active. This is why, big part of the bites are during the night. It's venom is extremely poisonous and causes muscle paralysis.
Indian Cobra – The poison of this species can cause death in less then an hour after the bite. The poison contains an enzymes that increases it's spread in the body. This snake is very beautiful and very popular. One of the reasons for this popularity is because this species are part of a spectacle called snake charming which we all had seen in the movies.
The bites from these snakes are so prevalent that common antivenom was created to treat 4 of them.
