India's Wildlife

Indian peninsula have the 2nd largest wildlife in the world. Its biodiversity is rich, from tiny insects to the big herds of elephants,
           
and it is a living paradise for the animal lovers. Today in India there are 80 National Parks and 441 Wildlife Sanctuaries. Also the country side is home some species of wild cats, like Tigers and the Asiatic Lion(almost extinct), the biggest population of the famous one-horned rhinoceros. Indian wildlife contains also a big percentage of the world population of elephants. Animals, such as these ones, are a small part of the 500 species of mammals and reptiles, 2000 species of birds, and 30 000 insect species. Over 90 000 sq km, which is 3% of India's land, is a protected reserve for the mind blowing wildlife.

Indian Biodiversity own its amazing existence to the country's topography. Offering different climate zones, from jungles to alpine forest, it is a perfect base for the wildlife. India is separated into ten main biological zones, such as Deccan Peninsula, Indian coast, Indian Deserts, and others. The vegetation here is either tropical, temperate or artic, which suits the needs of elephants, antelopes, the big wild buffalo etc.

Now, the ever growing awareness of the need for protection, of India's wildlife, is helped by projects, like Project Tiger, Project Elephant, and eco-developing projects. Also tourist practice the Responsible Tourism campaign.

Wildlife Safari adventure in India are very special and unique. The exiting dense jungles hide their inhabitants, like the amazing and majestic Asian Lion or the scary Indian Tiger hiding in the bushes. The atmosphere around the National parks helps the animals to live free and undisturbed by the tourist who come to enjoy the wild view. The Wildlife today, for India, is one of the biggest natural resources, and have a special need to be protected from urbanization, so that the upcoming new generations can also enjoy it.
